Mr. Bertrand is a partner in the law firm of Dunlap Fiore, LLC. He is an experienced commercial litigator representing clients in all phases of civil litigation in both state and federal court as well as mediation and arbitration. Mr. Bertrand’s diverse commercial litigation, construction and business practice includes representation of clients in matters involving insurance defense and coverage, suretyship, construction design, defect, delay and payment claims, bid disputes, premises liability, and real estate disputes. He also assists business owners with a wide-range of issues including formation, governance, shareholder disputes, asset purchase agreements, employment matters and dissolution.
Mr. Bertrand counsels and represents insurers in first-party property and liability claims and third-party actions involving general and professional liability matters. He also has extensive insurance defense experience with particular skill in management, organization and development of litigation strategy that results in efficient and effective defense of policyholders under all types of liability policies.
Mr. Bertrand also serves as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Louisiana representing the state in both litigation and regulatory matters, including construction litigation, bid disputes and liability matters. He has extensive experience in public contracting and Public Assistance matters involving FEMA through his representation of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority. His representation of CPRA includes regulatory matters, contracting and bid disputes, with significant experience in handling Public Assistance claims under the Stafford Act at every stage, including preparation and presentation to FEMA, administrative review, arbitration and federal court litigation.
